Behind the Cafe is a hidden yet well maintained, award winning community garden surrounded by trees, flowers, fruit and vegetables growing side by side and bees from the two hives gathering pollen.

The garden was started in 1998 when the derelict lodge building (now the cafe) was reclaimed and restored. It was the original garden for the lodge keeper of Queen's Wood and so the soil had been well nurtured in the past, but had become overgrown. Now it is a thriving example of what can be achieved in a small space with apple and quince trees, rhubarb and fruit bushes interspersed with vegetable plots. The garden also has an Aquaponics system set up. http://www.queenswoodcafe.co.uk/#!aquaponics/c18zy

The garden is maintained by volunteers on Mondays and Thursdays from 9.30am to 1pm. There are plants for sale year round during cafe opening times. The garden has also held workshops on food growing and compost making for schools and other groups in the local area.
